Founded in 1958 by legendary actor Hugh O’Brian, Hugh O'Brian Youth (HOBY) Leadership is a 501(c)(3) organization that seeks to motivate individuals to make positive differences within our global community and to empower them to achieve their highest potential.
Our flagship program welcomes school and community nominated high school sophomores to our local seminar. The seminar will take place at the Career Academy in Bismarck, ND from June14-16, 2024. These student ambassadors participate in facilitated dialogue and abilities-based workshops to develop awareness of their leadership strengths and an understanding of their leadership values. Through these dynamic activities with their peers, students hone their skills and learn to recognize, amplify, and collaborate with the diverse strengths of others. One weekend at a HOBY seminar unlocks a student’s leadership potential and helps them gain the confidence to make a positive impact on the world around them.
Student ambassadors truly put their service leadership learning into action after the seminar concludes. New HOBY alumni are challenged to complete 100 hours of service to their communities in the year following their seminar. 100% of the planning and operation for our seminar is completed by civic-minded and committed volunteers, many of them HOBY Alumni, who believe in HOBY’s goals and in making this positive experience possible.
Your contribution will go toward helping students from North Dakota attend this life-changing seminar. Our goal is to reach as many students as possible. The financial obligation of sending a student away for the weekend is sometimes more than a family or school district can afford. With your support, we will be able to provide scholarships to students to attend the HOBY ND seminar so they can continue on their paths to becoming the leaders of tomorrow.
